KING TOWNSHIP FOOD BANK OPEN SATURDAY
This Saturday, September 16th marks the regular monthly Distribution at three centres across King. The Centres are open from 9-11 a.m. for registered users to receive boxed food, food cards, pet kibble, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as an assortment of groceries that can be selection in an unlimited way. If you need assistance are are not registered, it’s important to call the Food Bank at 905-806-1125 so that food for you can be shipped to the right location. Registrants will be completing forms to be included in the annual Christmas in King, a sister organization to the Food Bank.
Monthly acknowledgement are sincerely offered to Hillside Gardens, Tim Horton Schomberg, Dorio’s Bakery Kettleby and a generous grower of cucumbers for donations that complement the groceries available every month with fresh produce and bakery items. Last month produce from the garden grown through partnership between Country Day School and Nobleton King Horticultural Society was shared with King City, and the Somerville Farm donated freshly picked corn to Kettleby.
London Calling! planning is well under way, with Sponsors and Silent Auction Donors stepping up to help raise $40,000. The Board of KTFB is delighted to announce that Mayor Steve Pellegrini is the Honourary Chair of the Organizing Committee. On line tickets are selling briskly through the website www.kingtownshipfoodbank.ca. Board members and BMO King City will also have tickets for purchase. This year, the price is $50, discounted to $40 for advance purchase. Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 19th at Nobleton Lakes 6-9 p.m. for the cocktail party of the year.
