King Township Food Bank Centres Open This Saturday

Visit www.ktfb.ca for the latest news and updates, including Distribution Dates, that are always the third Saturday of the month. For November, the date is Saturday November17th.

This Saturday, October 20, the three Distribution Centres are open from 9-11 am to receive those registered with the Food Bank. If you need help, please call ahead 905-806-1125 or ktfoodbank@gmail.com so food can be shipped to the appropriate centre in the right quantity for you.

After that, at the King City location there will be a Pop Up Clothing Giveaway from 12-2.

Three Cheers to Sacred Heart. Their hard work resulted in a cheque for $7000 to King Township Food Bank late in September.

Smile Cookie sales from the King City Tim Horton restaurant topped $2900, and it is all directed to the King Township Food Bank again this year. Huge thanks go to all who bought cookies, some by the boxful to share with colleagues, friends and family, and of course to the Mizzonis who tagged KTFB as the beneficiary of this annual event.

Thanks to the Tim Horton in Schomberg and Dorio’s Kettleby Italian Bakery, there are extras in the form of locally baked bread and sweets at every Distribution. We also thank the anonymous cucumber grower for the abundance of cucumbers. Hillside Gardens continues their fabulous monthly year round sponsorship with a generous selection of root vegetables–along with cauliflower and celery in season.

The Annual Sponsorship campaign for 2018-19 closed with a record of over $20,000 being raised. The brochure is in production and the website to be updated, so you will be able to see the full roster of generous businesses soon. The period ended with $1500 from Coldwell Banker Ronan Realty, and Green Tractors Nobleton at the Gold Level, with Schomberg Veterinary Services and Ford Fines Lincoln (Bolton) with McDonald’s Schomberg at the Silver Level.

Sip & Savour tickets sales are brisk; they can still be purchased either through www.ktfb.ca or at retail outlets across King. This year, York Energy Centre, at the Diamond Level, is headlining the lineup of Sponsors who support with cash or in kind goods and services. Nobleton Lions are again coming in above the Platinum level, with Dominion Securities (Michael Hogg), Trisan Construction, KIngsdale Animal Hospital and John’s No Frills at the Platinum level. This is the last week that we can accept sponsorships to be able to get the logos to the printer for on site signage. Faithful retuning in kind sponsors include King Weekly Sentinel, Party Magic, and King Print. Curbex has supported the event with a deeply discounted mobile sign rate; Marquis Gardens have offered generous support for a very special installation, and Lisa Pace Photography will be offering the photo booth this year; the backdrop will be stunning! Jenn Scherle of ‘Art in the Park’ will be present to share her passion for painting. A special entertainment group in Toronto is giving us a Green Level Sponsorship on one of their services…but to tell you more would take away from the WOW factor that Meline Beach and her team are planning for this year. Of course, David Beasley will be in full voice for the Live Auction and Mark Pavilons is our returning Master of Ceremonies. Along with Honourary Chair Mayor Steve Pellegrini, these form the Podium Group for Thursday October 25th at Nobleton Lakes. Plan to meet your friends in the piazza to sip, savour and shop the mercato!
