The Spring Food Drive at Schomberg Foodland was one of the most successful of their annual Spring Drives, bringing nearly $2,000 of food to the Food Bank in the form of prepacked bags that are purchased by customers. Hearty thanks are offered to Rocco Macri, his staff, and the generous customers of Schomberg Foodland for their perennial support.

The Annual Web Sponsorship program is just getting under way, and soon requests for ongoing support will be dropping into the mailboxes of the past sponsors of the Food Bank, many of whom have supported the Food Bank since 2009. Combined with the In Kind donations of Hillside Gardens and King Weekly Sentinel, these sponsorships account for 30% of our annual budget! In addition, the monthly offerings from Tim Horton Schomberg and Dorio’s Bakery provide off-menu treats for the recipients.

Civic Optical has been most helpful in offering free eyeglasses and frames to children with a prescription to be filled. In addition, they have recently helped an emergency situation with a Senior.

Sip & Savour plans are forming, and this year all will be invited to gather on the streets of Rome. Again, the event will happen mid-to-late October. Further announcements are expected soon.

Visit www.ktfb.ca for the latest news and updates, including Distribution Dates, that are always the third Saturday of the month. Attendees must ‘beware’ as the first Saturday can be at the very beginning of the month, as in June, September and December this year.

This Saturday, May 19th, the three Distribution Centres are open from 9-11 am to receive those registered with the Food Bank. If you need help, please call ahead 905-806-1125 or ktfoodbank@gmail.com so food can be shipped to the appropriate centre in the right quantity for you.

The next Distribution Day will be Saturday, June 16th, the day before Fathers Day. That will also be the time for registration completion on the Back to School Program for students needing help with school supplies.
