It is with great pleasure that the board of the King Township Food Bank announces that Leona Zadoyko has joined the team of directors.

Leona has shown enormous commitment to the Food Bank, having offered her services shortly after moving to King Township. She immediately moved into the area of donation collection in the Nobleton area and joined the Distribution Team. In 2014, she was part of the team that put in place the Back to School Project when it had unexpectedly collapsed.

Subsequently, she actively promoted and worked on the Pop-Up Clothing Giveaway that started as a test run and has now become a permanent and popular feature that offers free seasonal clothing for all ages at least four times a year. On Tuesdays she is part of the Depot Team that inventories, sorts, packs and prepares shipments to the Distribution Centres.

In addition, Leona has become a key volunteer in the Christmas in King organization that works with the Food Bank to help ensure everyone in King has a merry Christmas.

Not new to volunteering, Leona’s previous life included many years with the Canadian Cancer Society, ultimately in a leadership position with the MacKenzie Branch.

Leona’s talents are varied – her career spans HR with CIBC to retail with Reeves Florist and Nursery. Since moving to Nobleton she has managed more than one location for Urban Nature Store. Presently you can find her at McDonald’s Schomberg, if you go at the right time.
