King Township Food Bank Centres Open This Saturday

The Back to School program is in full gear, and in addition to offering supplies and backpacks, students this year are being offered a free back to school haircut.  Two generous stylists have offered their services on a Sunday in August, and Aldo Catracchia, owner of Hairport Salon in Kleinburg, has donated the use of his salon.

Thanks to the Tim Horton in Schomberg and Dorio’s Kettleby Italian Bakery, there are extras in the form of locally baked bread and sweets at every Distribution.  We also thank the anonymous cucumber grower for the abundance of cucumbers.  Hillside Gardens continues their fabulous monthly year round sponsorship with a generous selection of root vegetables–and more when the season is right.

Annual sponsorships are arriving, with kudos to Charlie Wilson of Bruce Wilson Landscaping. In addition to his own Diamond Sponsorship, Charlie advocates strongly for the Food Bank, which results in many other businesses also taking sponsorships.   This year, Cosmocare,  Schomberg Sheet Metal, and Xtra Mechanical have renewed their support, with more on the horizon.  New is Humber Nurseries, and a big shout out to them for becoming a Gold Sponsor.

Sip & Savour tickets will be available on line on August 1, and the early bird price of $40 remains in effect until October 1. Get you ticket early to enjoy an evening on the streets of Rome, as we lift a glass to say ‘Ciao Roma’ on October 25th at Nobleton Lakes.

The next Distribution Day will be Saturday, August 18. At which time the Back to School supplies will be distributed.  In addition, there will be the seasonal Pop Up Clothing Giveaway, featuring Fall and Winter clothing.

Visit www.ktfb.ca for the latest news and updates, including Distribution Dates, that are always the third Saturday of the month.

This Saturday, July 21, the three Distribution Centres are open from 9-11 am to receive those registered with the Food Bank.  If you need help, please call ahead 905-806-1125 or ktfoodbank@gmail.com so food can be shipped to the appropriate centre in the right quantity for you.
