This month marks the 169th month that the Food Bank has been offering a week of non-perishable groceries to families in King. At a conservative estimate, that’s 17,000 weeks of food for individuals struggling with difficult times. This could not have happened without the generous and often energetic support of the community through donations, sponsorships and various third party events that gathered up food and funds through schools, community groups, businesses, organizations, and private functions throughout 2017. As much as possible, these efforts were acknowledged in the press through the generosity of King Weekly Sentinel, but space and a wish for privacy did not allow all to be recognized publicly. Outstanding invoices and tax receipts go into the mail this month, but feel free to call or write with concerns (contact information below)
For those registered with the King Township Food Bank, Distribution is open this Saturday 9-11 am. If you are new, or did not attend last month, you need to call ahead of time, so that provision can be made for your arrival at the appropriate centre. Always on the third Saturday of the month, Distribution Centres provide food and/or food cards, along with pet kibble, bathroom tissue and fresh produce. 905-806-1125 or email firstname.lastname@example.org visit www.ktfb.ca for more information. Only proof of residency is needed to register.
The next Pop Up Clothing Giveaway is being planned for April.
