King Township Food Bank Centres Open This Saturday

This Saturday, February 16th, the three Distribution Centres are open from 9-11 am to serve Food Bank registrants. If you need help, please call ahead 905-806-1125 or ktfoodbank@gmail.com so food can be shipped to the appropriate centre in the right quantity for you.

Again, the monthly distribution will have donated produce from Hillside Gardens, along with extra treats from Tim Hortons Schomberg

Visit www.ktfb.ca for the latest news and updates, including Distribution Dates, that are always the third Saturday of the month.  March will be Saturday March 16th yes March Break week. April’s date is Saturday, April 20th, yes the Saturday of Easter Weekend, and in May it will be the Saturday of the May long weekend. Such is the way third Saturdays fall for the next 3 months.

In addition to many generous personal and foundation donations in December and January, we had early responders by way of 2019 Sponsorship renewals; Sprucewood Leasing, B&B Dixon and Moore Park Plantscapes at Silver, Showa at Gold, and Bruce Wilson Landscaping at Diamond.  That’s a lovely Sponsorship launch.  Grocery shoppers at No Frills Nobleton donated through the Pay it Forward Fall Campaign, resulting in a cheque for nearly $650 arriving at the Food Bank.   The Lowe’s Canadian Heroes Fall campaign sent a cheque for $1,000 which is a combination of donors at the Schomberg Rona store and a percentage matching by corporate head office.

The young Dengler brothers both had birthday parties in January and chose to direct guests to donate to the Food Bank instead of bringing presents.  As a result, over $1,000 was raised to help the Food Bank.  That’s a big help to our produce budget!

The Board is pleased to announce that Geoff Simpson (of internet and website fame) and Leona Zadoyko (Nobleton Distributor Lead and, and, and) have become Directors.  Their experience both within the Food Bank and beyond  will provide additional valuable input in forward planning.

King Township Food Bank would welcome capable and experienced assistance with Marketing, which has a fairly broad scope.  Programs are in place, but there is a need for help, especially with desktop abilities and some creative genius.  Email ktfoodbank@gmail.com  if you’d like to start a conversation.
