King Township Food Bank Open Saturday, December 16th
This coming Saturday, the three Distribution Centres for Christmas in King will be open to distribute the regular monthly items plus the Christmas in King gifts, hampers, and wreaths. Frozen turkeys will also be given out to those requesting. Fresh turkey certificates will be given to families, also as requested.
At this time of year the Food Bank is greatly benefitting from the generosity of the community, with drives at all the schools in addition to many local businesses in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg. King Firefighters recently conducted a four hour blitz at the three large grocery stores, bringing in three trucks full of food and over $4200 in cash. In addition, Foodland is running its Christmas Drive, KNG Fitness and Nobleton Optometry as well as Alloro Fine Foods are accepting donations and Orr Insurance in King City and Schomberg are raffling off Hockey Tickets in addition to accepting donations. The churches across King have been making donations to support the Food Bank and its sister organization, Christmas in King which touches the lives of about 230 people this Christmas. King City Brownies, NobleKing Hockey and a host of anonymous families and individuals have been providing hampers and gifts. BTN is again donating the green wreaths, and thanks are also extended to Round the Bend farm for turkeys.
Hillside Gardens, Dorio Bakery and Tim Horton Schomberg continue to donate produce and bakery items every month.
A generous donation was recently received from the Hunt Family Charitable Foundation, as well as significant donations from others, both personal and foundation issued. King Township Food Bank coffers are in a good state to begin 2018, and they will be able to cope with the rise in the number of registrants through the winter months and into summer.
Best wishes to all for all the joys of the Christmas Season and may 2018 be filled with blessings of every kind.
